Foredom - A-RA11 Standard latch type mounted abrasive point in red aluminum oxide or green silicon carbide. For use in discontinued angle head handpieces H.55A, H.55D, H.56A, H.56D, H.57A and H.57D. Made in USA. 35,000 RPM Max Speed.

Green silicon carbide A-RA41 and A-RA42 can only be used in H.57A and H.57D handpieces.

Aluminium Oxide is very slightly softer than silicon carbide but it breaks down into smaller particles quicker than silicon carbide. It is a commonly used abrasive because it has a high metal removal rate but gives a smoother finish than silicon carbide.

Silicon Carbide is just below diamond for hardness and more aggressive than aluminum oxide . The particle shape is a bit sharper and the grains do not break up as easily. It removes metal quicker and leaves a “rougher” finish than aluminum oxide.
