Silverfil works just like any other amalgam filling, employing the same usage and handling techniques, but minus the problems of excess mercury within the fillings.

Unlike conventional dental amalgams, Silverfil consists of only silver particles and a partially amalgamated silver-mercury compound. It contains no tin or copper.

The highly reactive powder of Silverfil Argentum completely absorbs all of the mercury used for amalgamation, leaving no traces of any of mercury behind in the fillings. (Tested at City University, London and University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur)

How to Use

• Place capsule in mixer and triturate using appropriate speed and mixing time.
• Remove capsule from mixing arm and tap the base of the capsule on a solid flat surface. (This will loosen the mixed mass within the capsule for easy removal)
• Twist the capsule apart to open, place the mass in the dappen dish, then break mixed mass apart the into several pieces. This will prohibit the mass from hardening too quickly.
• Please Note: Silverfil will set fast if left intact as a single mass. * To achieve faster set times, let mass sit in the dish for 4-5 seconds before filling the cavity.
• Condense with a smooth plugger until fully compact. **Setting will begin when you stop manipulating**

There is no need for a serrated plugger unless performing the Sandwich Technique for mechanical bonding.

Manipulation & instructions to patients are same as with traditional amalgams. Approximately 6%-9% of FREE SILVER will be present in Silverfil amalgam.

Polishing can be done after 24 hours by using just silicone rubber with water at medium speed. Polished surface tends to become dull after few days due to oxidation of the free silver still present in the amalgam.
